Community Celebration for Treasured Teacher

It’s time to celebrate one of Pleasant Hill’s most treasured teachers - Mrs. Joukoff! After 44 years of teaching (23 years in MDUSD, including 17 years at Sequoia Elementary), Mrs. Joukoff is retiring and we are sending her off in style! To celebrate her extraordinary career, please mark your calendars:

Date: Tuesday, November 19, 2019

Place: Sequoia Elementary MUR

Time: 3:15 pm

~~~    RSVPs highly recommended    ~~~
The Mt. Diablo Unified School District, in partnership with the teachers, colleagues and parents of Sequoia Elementary, invite all current, present and past students (and their families) of Mrs. Joukoff to stop by, share stories, and wish her a very happy retirement.  Everyone is welcome and light refreshments will be served.
Since her early days working in Richmond, at Dover Elementary, she has always strived to create transdisciplinary and collaborative teaching in her classroom. Working to inculcate critical thinking in all of her students, Mrs. Joukoff worked diligently to instill an inner drive so students believe anything is possible. As a stellar member of the Mt. Diablo Unified School District community, she was recognized as MDUSD Teacher of the Year in 2014 for Sequoia Elementary, awarded the District’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2016, and nominated for Educator of the Year in 2017 for the City of Pleasant Hill. Mrs. Joukoff had devoted her teaching career to helping students and continually encouraged them to be lifelong learners.
Former students of Mrs. Joukoff, we invite you to send a send a tracing of your child's left hand, on white paper, by November 8th.   Your child's 2nd grade school year should be written on the thumb and they should write ‘Mrs. Joukoff taught me  ______________________________” on the palm area.  Please submit handprints to the Sequoia Elementary office.
