Principal's Message - Transitions

June 14, 2022

Dear Sequoia Families,

It is with mixed emotions that I write this letter.  After four years here at Sequoia Elementary, it is time for a new challenge and I will be transitioning into the principalship at Sycamore Valley Elementary in San Ramon.  I am excited for this next step.  I am also very sad to be leaving this wonderful community and all of our Sequoia Stars!!

We have so much to be proud of as a community – we made our way through distance learning and back to in-person learning with all the COVID protocols and we successfully transformed our school into an approved IB World School!!  This work would not have been possible without the support of our community and for that I am forever grateful.

I began my work at Sequoia Elementary at a time of transition as we began our IB work and navigated through the multiple transitions required of all of us throughout the pandemic.  I am leaving Sequoia El. in a position of easy continuity.  I am confident that the good work will continue and that our Sequoia Stars will continue to shine bright!

The district has a proven process that includes community input as they begin the replacement process.   I have full confidence that they will find a school leader who will be able to support the Sequoia community and will love our Sequoia Stars for the fabulous individuals they are.

Continue to shine bright, my friends, and remember, today is your day to shine!

With gratitude for the privilege of having been a part of your child’s journey,

Patricia Kawahara

Principal, Sequoia Elementary
